Reflecta
Reflecta
Hello! This project is a cathedral environment modeling project featuring a mysterious angel statue.
Before diving into the actual modeling, I had a blast defining the design concept and matching modeling art style. It wasn't just about finding references and modeling; I made sure the entire process aligned with the design concept.
The story behind the environment is:
"In a dark cathedral stands Reflecta, an angel statue with closed eyes. Through the wishes of those who pray to her, she listens and imagines the world, making her own wish.
'One day, like a fairy tale, may I open my eyes and see a beautifully shining world. May this dark place become bright and beautiful the moment I open my eyes.'"
When gathering references, I looked at both real-life images and graphics to learn the appropriate ways to represent my work. I also created models through direct drawing. When setting up compositions, I selected a few scenes and fine-tuned the placement and lighting.
Props
I wanted to ensure that the story I envisioned was reflected in each prop. I even created additional models with new designs, such as angel wings, to align with the story. This design-oriented thinking helped me become more immersed in the work.
Focusing on the word "reflect," which signifies the wishes of the angel statue, I emphasized reflective materials around the statue during the texturing process. I especially enjoyed working on the floor and stained glass.
Props Detail
This project was an excellent opportunity to practice various textures, including wood, metal, and stone, as well as new and aged materials.
I hope to grow as an environment modeler while working on even more exciting projects. Thank you for taking the time to view my portfolio!
